Orchid plants are members of the family ORCHIDACEAE.

Orchids from Singapore are one of the world’s most exclusive flowers with a life span of more than 2 weeks in a vase. They compliment any environment with an effect that no other flower can achieve.

Orchids are either terrestrial or epiphytic.

Terrestrial orchids grow in soil and have better access to water and nutrients. On the other hand, the supply of water and nutrients are severely curtailed for epiphytic orchids growing on branches or tree trunks.

Orchids plants often present a bewildering variety of shapes, but in reality they have only two basic types of growth: Sympodial and Monopodial.

Dendrobium and Oncidium hybrids belong to the sympodial growing patterns with the pseudobulbs. Whereas Aranda, Mokara and Aranthera differ in that their growing patterns are Monopodial. Which mean they tend to have climbing habits.

Dendrobium is from the Greek dendron meaning tree and bios meaning life. This refers to the epiphytic (living on another plant) mode of life of the genus.

Arandas genus arrive from Arachnis x Vanda

Aranthera genus arrive from Aranthera x Renanthera

Mokara is an artificial hybrid generic name. Derived from the combination of Arachnis x Ascocentrum x Vanda
